  • Oceanside is the same company which did the Art in the Park show at Bayfront Park in Miami in April.  they were... shall we say, less than honest about how they ran the show.  They told us there was no buy/sell at the show and we had a sun glass vendor just about in front of us and a wine promoter right in front of us.  One one side we had a very find sculptor but everyone else in our area was ... well, we won't go back.  The other real artists we met at the show (there were some), were unanimously furious at the promoter for presenting a show where the locals had NO idea there was an art fair going on.

I'd pass on their Boca show unless you have a compelling reason to go.

  • Thanks Ruth,  I have been going to festivals for years, in a lot of states and now that I am retired, I guess I have way too much time on my hands!!  I can only afford to buy small pieces but I take so much pleasure in looking at them every day.  You would love my cousin too but she works and doesn't have the time to spend on the internet that I do.  She is the one who introduced me to artfaircalendar and the rest is history!!!
  • The promoter, Oceanside Productions, definitely does live in Florida. They are also involved in the Miami Boat Show and have lots of Florida connections. I asked them why Boca, didn't it have enough shows already? He said they liked this site (we've done shows there years ago before the Boca Museum show moved to the town--very tony place) and thought the date would work well for shoppers.
  • Geri - I've never met you, probably never will as we'll most likely do shows just in the Western US and won't venture as far as Florida, but I can truly say I would love to have more art patrons / customers like you!! I find it incredible that you research shows and provide feedback to the artists based on your experience of going to shows.  Wish we had a few more informed art patrons like you!!
  • I was curious, wondering why Boca needed another show.  I looked up the promoter of this show and found out a couple of curious things.  If you look at the promoter's website, the address says Ft. Lauderdale, CA with a zip code that is definitely a Florida zip and the phone number is a Ft. Lauderdale phone number.

I looked up their past events and they are the same promoter of that festival that was held in Miami.  I only spoke to one artist who was at that show and it was an incredible fiasco with the artists not making booth fees and lots of buy/sell.  I'll try to get the artist to post here if you want. Let me know.

    Wish I had better news.

  • I had questions about this show also - sent them an e-mail quite some time ago and they did not answer.  I could not find who is actually putting this show on - I'm hearing lots of warning bells!
  •  Is this a mall show? Outdoors? Info is confusing to me.
