Artist's House Fire

I'm posting this as an attempt to pass on a request from another artist and inform as many people as may want to be informed and perhaps help out. Many of you may know Rick and Linda Bachman, two of the nicest people I've met, from various art fairs. On June 23rd their house, as-well-as the neighbors house, caught on fire. Apparently due to some wayward fireworks, which, by the way are illegal in Colorado! The request from Jim DeLutes follows:

Artists needing our help

Greetings,

I want to let you know about a couple of artists who are friends to many of you and are in need of some help. Rick and Linda Bachman who have been doing art shows forever had their house burn down a few weeks ago. No, not in the mountains, but apparently too close to kids playing with fireworks. The house is covered by insurance but they lost their business workshop. Everything to make their artwork and all of their inventory, trailer, displays, etc. and none of the business stuff is covered by insurance.
This comes just as they were getting on their feet after 4 years of dealing with cancer and all of those expenses. I have set up a PayPal site to donate whatever you can. You don't need a PayPal account to donate.
Here is the link to the site with more info and the donation link: http://www.downtowndenverartsfestival.com/donate.html

Thank you and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions,

Someone on the street captured a video of the fire and you can see Rick at 1:40

  • I hope someone keeps us updated on their progress.

  • Thanks everyone who donates to these folks. The Bachman's are some of the nicest people in this business and I'm hoping the artist community will rally behind them.

  • I just donated my portion - hope they will recover fast from that fire! Do not wish that to anyone!

  • I just bought a $37 baby shower gift for a super rich couple that could afford to completely buy everything they need.  If I could do that, I can help these folks out, too.

  • It would be horrible to stand on the side and watch your house burn.  I am making a donation, too.

Hey everybody, Come on, donate at least $10.  What is $10?  A sandwich at a show.  You can bring a couple sandwiches from home to save on what you can donate here.

  • I did the same, Jennifer and I agree - alittle can go along way.  As a fellow artist and cancer survivor, I wish them all the best.   I just got insurance for my business and this tragedy really brings home the need for it, even as I pay the added cost.

  • I'm with you on that Jennifer. I donated and urge everyone to follow Jennifer's advice. Your little bit added to the rest of ours can make a difference to Rick and Linda.

  • I hope that the promoters of the shows they will be unable to attend due to this tragedy, will be kind enough to refund their booth fees.

  • I donated $10, wish it was more. If all of us donated $10, we would have thousands. Please consider helping out. This could be any of us.
  • This is terrible.  I had been corresponding with them about getting a piece from them at Port Clinton and I have work of theirs already.  They are such nice people and have a wonderful sense of humor with their work as well as excellent craftsmenship.

I hope they will contact CERF to see if they can get aid from them.    Thanks for letting us know.
