Apopka Art and Foliage Festival

Have any of you Floridians done the Apopka Art and Foliage Festival before? I notice they are making a call for artists even though the show is in a few weeks. Should I make the leap?

  • LOL Alan.

I used to call them "Big rings."   It always seemed to me the shoppers had the biggest diamonds that I have ever seen.

  • Another analogy - if you read this forum, you know about "Shoes".  Everyone here is barefoot or in flip flops!!!

  • Run. Be afraid, be very afraid. Or in a word, no.

  • We did the Apopka Fair a couple of years ago.  Horrible.  If you are selling art, and your average price is over $10, forget about it.  We live about 30 miles away.  You would not believe the difference in the crowd only about 15 miles from Mount Dora.  Save your money, they are calling for artists for a reason.  Where do you live?  Have you ever tried Riverside Arts Market in Jacksonville?  Buyers and well run, every Saturday.  Great surprise!

  • NO.  The main draw is the flowers.  On the stage is every local Girl Scout Troop, choir, dance class, etc.  The main people who are coming to the show are the parents of the kids on the stage.  This was several years ago but also before the recession.  One of the judges was drunk on her a$$.  There are apparently some good awards but sales were non-existent.
