Hello fellow artists, I got into the Pecan street art festival in Austin tx.  I can not find much info about it. The booth fee is kinda high at $690ish for single booth. So iam hesitant to accept till I find out a bit more info. I can mot find any reviews. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Wow!

  • Run far, far away.  I began doing it twice a year since 1986 and live 80 miles away.  I stopped entering about two years ago.  It is an import crap fest with 25% great, real art and fine craft that no one buys any longer.  Huge crowd walking from the $5 jewelry booths to the next beer booth. I always felt lucky the last few years that I did the show to be one of the booths where no drunks pooped inside my booth on Saturday night.

  • I did it several times, in both the fall and spring. I haven’t done it for about 6 years. Back then it was $490. I can’t believe they have upped the price that much! I usually made about $2000. (I’m a potter.) I live close by, so there were no lodging expenses, etc. I wouldn’t have done it if I weren’t close.
There was plenty of buy/sell, but also quite a few serious artists. If you decide to do it, don’t get on red river road. It tends to get overlooked by patrons. There’s generally a decent crowd in the morning, and it tapers to nothing by the end of the day. Be careful how you secure your tent overnight. Someone in the booth next to me once had a homeless person come inside at night and urinate on things.
Personally, I’m not planning on doing it again for that price. I know of $2000 shows that have a way lower entry fee.
