Have you ever been asked to fix another artist's work?  I've only done it a couple times.  My blog entry today is about adjusting another artist's work.  It's also about how I used to draw at all my kids' sports games.  Sometimes I worry that they'll look back and think of me being half there, distracted by my constant need to work work work.  Isn't it hard to balance art with family?

  • Ha ha!!!!  When the kids get hurt in football, I always loudly suggest that the boy's mother run onto the field to give him some hugs and kisses.  This cracks me up more now that my son is 6'4.

  • Another mother and I took our sons to a Tae Kwan Do competition out of town. These Tae Kwan Do folks take all the ceremony around the sport seriously. It was going way too slowly and I stepped up to the guy in charge (can't remember the Korean name) and made some suggestions on how they could proceed more efficiently. Jonathan was very embarrassed. A little later my friend's son was having his challenge in hand to hand and she ran into the ring yelling, "stop, stop, you're hurting him!" Neither of these boys wanted us to come to another meet.

  • That's hilarious!!!  I love that you wrapped Christmas presents at a wrestling match.  I don't think my boys have really cared much.  Sometimes they say, "Are you going to draw, or are you going to watch?"  I really do try to watch.  But I am officially excused from my older son's baseball games because he feels like he does better when I'm not there dramatically gasping.

  • Wendy, I am one who just can't sit without doing something else.  I used to mend socks (I was an Home Ec teacher) at little league games.  I also usually had something to crochet with me, too.  One time I took Christmas gifts to wrap to one of my kid's all day wrestling matches.  I found a quiet place in the balcony and sat and wrapped my gifts and was able to stop and watch his matches when he wrestled.  With 4 kids I had too much to do before Christmas to just sit there.  My kids never thought anything of it and probably would have to have their memories jogged to remember it.  So, I can think of lots of other things you could do to hurt your kids.

  • Great blog! I really enjoyed it, and would love a day with Lepoleon!:) Thanks for sharing yours...
