You'd think the heat would take the stuffing out of even the most stalwart artists, but not so, folks. Here are some people we all know well with tips on how they get through the long hot days and what is good about art fairs:

I attended on Thursday and Friday with our daughter, Farah Darwish, and it was such a pleasure to see old friends and see wonderful new work.

The video includes: Andrew Shea, David Curles, Sharon Johnston, Joachim Knill, Janice Ho, Aaron Hequembourg, Sandra Wampler and Elaine Unzicker ... then my battery died!  7 min. 37 sec.

  • Thanks for posting the great video. I'm still a newbie...I've only done some little training wheel shows (one or two days, no tent, no worries) to build up my confidence. But it's been so helpful to have this site and this community out there. You feel like you get the inside story on what a show is really like and how to survive when you can't thrive. It's so helpful when you're just getting started. But this video made me smile more than normal when I saw Sharon Johnston (who has made it so easy for me to make my mom smile on many a Mother's Day and birthday) and Joachim (because all I had to do was look up to see the photograph we purchased from him at Main St in Fort Worth a number of years ago). Thanks to all of you for braving the weather, the time away from home, and the crowds and taking the time to share your experiences in this forum!
  • Nice video. I wanted to come to Sava, but, I was kidnapped by Jan Kaulins and Chris Belieau and forced to eat dinner with them at the Cottage Inn.

  • They were so busy I didn't want to interrupt their time. It looked like they put a white tarp in as a ceiling, not sure how they attached it to the tent frame, then ran those stretchy cords that Sharon pointed out from side to side to support it. The hot air was then trapped between the top of the tent and the tarp. They said it worked. Travis Lindenbaum told them about it. Calling Travis!

  • Do you have additional information about the material on the ceiling of the tent that helped with cooling the tent. What is it? Where do you find it? How does it work?
  • more to come, photos of our AFI meetup and my view of the shows
