So, I’m sure that’s not what the Choochokam Arts Foundation told the artists, they had varied explanations but it just comes down to the fact that this organization that has long lacked for planning skills, failed once again and this time the failure was big enough to cause a cancellation of an event that’s been running for 39 years, cancelling it when it was too late for artists to apply and make other plans for…

Here you go Connie, a short blog on Tempe Fall Festival of the Arts.
This was our second year participating and it truly felt like an entirely different show, different crowd, etc. Last year we had a booth location that was close to the end of the show on a side street, plus we had to deal with the Pac 12 Championship Game on Saturday of the show and it seemed most of the attendees were not there for the art show, they were there for the game and didn’t want to buy anything…

Or maybe the title of this post should have been “Is this any way to treat your artists?”
It’s kind of sad, a wonderful little community show, in an absolutely perfect location on Whidbey Island, one of the most artistic communities in the Pacific Northwest. The locals support this festival and they have great volunteer support. Whidbey Island is very supportive of the arts, Langley is listed in John Villani’s “The 100 best Art Towns in America”.

2014 has been off to a much different start than we ever expected. After getting waitlisted for 2 January shows, rejected / waitlisted for our Feb shows it looked like our first show of the year was going to be in March in Albuquerque before we continued on to Texas. Well, that all changed as we left Tucson AZ for Dallas TX in a hurry due to an impending death in our immediate family. We ended up cancelling a few shows and rearranging our travel schedule.
