Timber Rattlesnake(WO12007)

I went hiking in the Catoctin Mountain State Park just to find these guys. A friend told me that you could catch them sunning themselves on the Granite Rock out cropping there. It took me two days to find this little guy. I almost stepped right over it as I was about to call it a day and head home. It was laying there against a rock partially in the sun. It stayed there for quite some time while I photographed it. It then had enough and turned and went back into its den. Used a Nikon D70 with a AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED lens.
