Regarding shows that are extremely competitive and hard to get into -- How do you feel about artists that apply for multiple art themes/mediums?  They would still pay the application fee for each individual medium.  Do festivals frown upon those artists that send multiple applications?  Does it hurt or do they treat each application as if it is a separate application, thereby, increasing your odds of being accepted?

I figure it would double my chances of being accepted if they happen to like one art form over the other.  If by some extreme act of fortune, I am accepted for BOTH mediums (unlikely), then I would chose one medium and pay for only one booth fee.

So, what's your opinion?

  • Some artists do it all the time because they actually work in different mediums. For ZAPP shows, you need a completely different profile for each medium and application.

But does it actually double your chances? It depends on how strong your work is and how good your jury images are. If you get accepted in both mediums, you can usually do a single booth with both bodies of work. For some artists who do jewelry from whatever their main medium is, like glass, they need to get accepted in jewelry also just to have the jewelry in their booth at the bigger shows.
