Norm Darwish Passed Away

Just off the phone with Connie. Norm Darwish passed away last night from his third occurrence of prostate cancer. He was first diagnosed 20 years ago and twice over that time it had gone into remission.

Connie's address if you want to send a card:

Connie Mettler
298 West Chicago St.
Coldwater, MI 49036

Norm was one of the top photographers on the art show circuit, specializing in hand painted black and white photography. You can see his work on the web site: http://normdarwish.com

I've also attached a few pictures of Norm that I've taken. The first is Norm and Connie with fellow photographer Chris Maher in Chris' booth and the second is Norm working on his original hand colored photos behind his booth at the Cain Park Art Festival.

  • My condolences to Connie and his family.
  • Thank you, Larry for posting. My sister and I were at my Dad's side when he passed. I think he waited for most everyone to leave the area until he went. I am thankful this didn't go on for a long time. I am appreciative of everyone's wonderful memories of my Dad and Connie at the fairs.....I loved working with them :)

  • I did not have the pleasure of meeting or knowing Norm but I feel much sadness in his passing.

    • Dear Connie
Michael and I send you our love. I have been thinking of Norm all day and the great times we had .

  • Connie, I was sad to hear of Norm's passing. So many memories seemed locked far in the nooks of our mind until someone dear passes. Then those memories seem to find their escape and become as vivid as the day they happened. My wish is that during this time, you and your family will have opportunity to celebrate those fond memories of years spent with Norm. May this be a time of celebration, peace and bonding.

You are in my prayers; I mourn your loss.

  • Connie: I'm so sorry to hear of Norm's passing.  As you recall, we were show neighbors at Cain Park on at least one occasion and that was all I needed to know the both of you were the kindest and most thoughtful of artist colleagues one could find on the show circuit.  Norm barely acknowledged my thanks for leaving me with an ice bucket filled with ice to help palliate the head-busting 103 degree heat we suffered that year. His demeanor was a clear message that this is how humans are to treat each other, no "thank you" required. We can only hope to catch up with him on the other side.

  • Connie, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
