models vs mannequin

I'm wondering if jurors prefer the use of models or mannequins when judging wearable art? I think the work shows better on models but I've heard that some jurors feel they are a distraction.

  • Models faces are a distraction. If possible, position the model so their head can be removed in post processing. The eyes of the model are the first place a juror looks when evaluating jury images. If you must use a model for hats, position the model so more of the side of her face is showing than head on. In the past few years, I've been getting great results using a black mannequin and black background. Makes the clothing pop.
