Introducing Myself

Hi my name is Eva Williams. I live in Pennsylvania, in the lovely Poconos. I love to do jewelry. I also like to quilt. My beaded items range from beaded jewelry to beaded fairy dolls, to beaded quilts. What is fun about beading, is you can bead almost anything. I've even beaded a pinky nail !!!! My favorite medium is bead weaving/embroidery. I'm new to doing bigger shows.  I will need help with gettiing ready to do them.  First question is, does my canopy have to be white?  I have a blue canopy.

  • Hi Eva! East Stroudsburg? I lived in Effort for a number of years before escaping to the country.

What shows in area have you done? How far are you willing to travel?

And yes, it's a good idea to have a white canopy but my beige one has been accepted at every show I've done. A great starter canopy is the couple hundred dollar EZ up. Then as you progress in the business you can spend more for a better one as they can run upwards of $1,000.

  • Hello Eva.  I think you should trade or sell your blue canopy and try to find a white one.  personally for me, I would rather be looking at someone's work under a white canopy because it would be so much easier to see the workmanship.  I think the blue would cast a bluish color on your work.  You don't want a blue canopy to keep you from getting into a show either.  Offer to sell it here at Art Fair Insiders.  There are over 5,000 artists here and someone may want to buy it from you.

  • Welcome, Eva. We are glad to have you here. Bead weaving is really the hottest thing and I've been seeing fabulous work at the shows. Do you know the work of Valerie Hector? Pretty inspiring.

As to the white canopy -- it is not a requirement, but it greatly enhances your chances of getting into the shows and it also makes you look more professional and casts the best light on your display.

  • Hi Eva, welcome to art fair insiders. In answer to your question, your canopy has to be white in both the display picture and in what you set up at a show with.
