Could use some display advice!

Hi! I could use some advice.  I'm trying to upgrade my display for (if possible) next year's shows.  Thus far, what I've been using are a couple of regular folding tables , but I really don't like them.  They are too low and so everyone has to bend over to look at them and the last thing I want is for someone to stop looking at my booth because their back is hurting.   I need to get something that is more counter-top height and, preferably, is not as wide. so they have a little more room to walk around the display.  However, I'm having trouble knowing where to look.  Any advice on where I could find something like this or how to make one?  Any advice is greatly appreciated!

  • I've raised my table to 42" with pvc piping and caps on the bottom.

  • I don't know what your medium is, Laura, but if at all possible, avoid displaying everything on a flat surface. You can cover boxes of various sizes with the cloth you use for your table covers, adding interest.

  • Thank you all so much for the advice!

  • I use origami folding racks/shelves. I made a velcro attachable and dettachable covers for the front and sides. They look amazing!

  • I use the folding 4 foot tables for a browse bin table at this time. I ran a strip of velcro around the outside and it holds a fabric pleated skirt quite nicely. The top level position is about 36 inches high and is a good height for holding small objects.

  • I don't have access to a lot of display materials at reasonable prices as you do in the US, so still use folding tables.  With some my husband has made simple extentions out of pipe that slips onto the legs, with others (where the pipes don't work)  I use bed risers.   I've found the 4ft tables to be the most flexible when setting up and they're narrower than the 6ft ones.

  • Sam's Club has collapsible folding tables with legs that can be adjusted to 3 different heights at a reasonable price.  You might also check IKEA if you have one in your local area.

    • The advantage of the ProPanels desks over the other options is that they don't have to be covered, always look neat and fold flat for transporting. The disadvantage is that they cost more. I don't necessarily recommend them, but I'm a big fan of easy meaning less work, especially on a weekly basis.

A lot of artists take the concept further by making their own folding props out of wood with fabric covering. If you do it right, you can cut out the center of each panel and cover it with fabric to make it much lighter.
