  • Well, here is another steal from an artist... http://imakeshinythings.tumblr.com/post/5855716317/not-cool-urban-o...

  • Thank you for sharing this important information...it's truly frightening, you can't trust anyone anymore.  It's such a violation of one's creativity...I hope they are successful in their pursuit of making this right!

  • If there has been one issue since I entered the business six years ago on which I have done a complete one-eighty, it's the issue of piracy and copyright.  I was completely unaware of the extent of the problem.  Not so now.

If you are interested in finding out whether any image of art or craft created by you has been posted elsewhere on the Internet, then visit www.tineye.com and follow the instructions.  (It is available as a plug-in for Mozilla Firefox users..this means you can right-click any image on your website and search directly from the context menu.)

  • I am so pleased to say this is not about "art fairs" but about other artists appropriating other peoples imagery. Not to sound smug ... but nice to see, it doesn't happen only in our corner of the art world. This is a very interesting discussion, Amy Renee. Licensing, stealing, copying -- where will it end?

This is a fascinating story. Cody steals from artists who have "stolen" from other artists. Whoa! Step aside, Mistura, let the big boys play!

Chris, how did you hear about this?

    • Someone on a small crafters board I'm on posted it.

Well this has been all over FB within the last week. Just today I found out this article!!!

    Makes your head turn.

    • It made my head start to explode. There's a certain amount of irony that she's suing a company for ripping off her work, and she was doing the same thing to other artists. Several of her pieces were traced from photos she appropriated, with exact matching when overlaid.

  • Target stores were also infamous for trolling art and craft venues and stealing the work, having it made in China, and selling it in their stores.

  • I thought you might have been referring to Martha Stewart, who has been known to shop art and craft shows looking for original work she can copy.
