    • Well Holly. When you're right, you're right. I've blocked out the images so the poor artists who might have been identified and told to take their too small images off ZAPP and replace them with the correct size so they stand a chance of getting into a show will never know. But you're right.

      Nice deflecting. But I'm the only one out there warning artists not to fall into the ZAPP image formatting trap. You supposedly attended the St Louis open jury last year to see the same thing and write a review of it. Is that review ready yet?

      Do you ever have anything to say that will actually help artists make better decisions?

    I rather like the idea of an initial round for (in essence) elimination. It would allow more time for careful examination of those works that were good enough  to make it past the first round.

     

    I know some juries have a quick overview of all images before scoring starts, so you know what the baseline is. It makes sense to be able to make a simple decision then, on one level. Though I wonder if some pieces at the very beginning end up being eliminated too quickly, before that sense of what the competition is for that particular jury has been established.
