Cartoon Art - Multiple Media - Show recommendations?

Hi guys!

I do cartoony art on several media - mostly felting and painting. Are there shows that you know of that would allow me to show my work as a cohesive whole rather than splitting it into two separate categories, build two solid presentations to satisfy the sometimes arbitrarily divided show sections?

They never have the section I need: "cartoon". It's always wood, jewelry, fiber, painting, etc....lol.

I wonder if I should call it all 'painting' some on canvas some with fiber? It's not a lie.

Are there shows you like that might like my sort of work? Other venues I should consider?

I ove ur work, don't know what part of the country you are looking for, but Fourth St in Tucson and Fountain Hills near Phoenix I think would be realy nice fits for you. Maybe the Frederick Md show too?

If you are willing to travel, I would like to suggest walking the Fall Stockley Gardens Art Festival. It's put on by the Hope House Foundation in Norfolk, VA. And, held in Olde Town Ghent on three 'park-like' blocks. There has been a lot of 'not your standard category' fine art and fine craft there.

    Go to their website. Look at who the artists were last fall--to see if you would be a good fit. The Spring show is not as good (when it comes to sales--the quality is there-just not as much money).

I don't think your subject matter should define your medium. I think you should apply under the fiber category just like everyone else that hand paints on fabric. And I also don't think you should limit yourself based on your subject because I think it could be appropriate for any show.

For example, when I photographed teddy bears, I still applied in the photography category, just like the photographers who photographed landscapes.

  Larry - I think you missed her point - she wants to apply 1 time, but she doesn't paint on fabric - she paints on canvas and does 'felting' which is creating art using felt - no painting involved. So completely different techniques, but same subject matter and same look.
