Dogwood Art Festival, Knoxville, Tennessee, April 27-29

Well, most of you might be saying Wah? Never heard of this one...But there is something to be said for a small show in a town that has seen lots of revitalization in their downtown but not much art happening. This show has gone on for the last 35 years ( I believe) but has always been a mixed bag of art, soap and local jewelry. But It is changing. Yes, some of those items were still there... but there was a new upgrade to fine art that was appreciated and bought. With about 90 artist scattered…See More

not giving 50% commission away-

Best show ever and why
Coconut Grove Art Festival 1985
I was young- green and it was such a high to sell your work there. I don't think I realized how big it was until I got down there from Tennessee.
Worst show ever and why
Can't say I have ever had a worst show. Never been rained out but that is because I have a big gap between then and now, and I'm just starting the show circuit again.

I haven't written a review in quite a while......Things have been busy and I have been on the road way too much.....as all of you know the drill. But I thought I would review a show I did for the first time last weekend in Memphis, a place I haven't seen too many reviews from and this show was not the easiest to get a read on beforehand. I like to try new ones though and I have a pretty good track record with choosing smaller venues that usually are well worth it.

Fairhope......Art Fun in the Deep South for some!

Posted on March 20, 2017 at 10:49pm 17 Comments

It was the 65th year of the  Fairhope Arts Festival this past weekend. In a cute suburb of Mobile Alabama, the show hosts 236 artists throughout the town's main cross streets. It's 300 dollars to participate with a prize chest of over 10 thousand dollars. The show is a three day event that starts at ten each day and ends at 6 on Friday and Saturday and then on 5 on Sunday.

Load in on Thursday at 6 pm was pretty uneventful and was easy to maneuver as was load out. The show is set up in…

Just a short review of the last show I did in Naperville, Illinois. It was the only show I had scheduled for this month and since I had done well at Old Town I thought that heading back to the Chicago area would be more of the same. That's the thing about this business.....it takes you high and then it BAM...slaps you right in the face. Ha!

Naperville Woman's Club Art Fair is located in Naperville Settlement, a re-enactment of a early mid-west village with all the "feels".…
