What is your plan for this time of year?

Posted on January 10, 2016 at 10:16am 10 Comments

Just curious as to what Artist mostly do during the show off season?  A lot of people go to Florida for shows, some just take a break and/or work on their Art, others try to dig deep for small local shows or venues like Home shows or Flower Shows, or get a temp job? Since I'm tired of watching my bank account dip this time of year Im considering a new strategy. I mostly take a few weeks off, work on updating new product, applying to shows and doing my taxes. How about you?

Posted on September 5, 2015 at 9:46am 7 Comments

Looking to convert my credit card terminal and move strictly to square and researched this add-on (Miura device) that can swipe and read chip cards. It has a key pad and runs off blue tooth. Just wondering how well it works.

Looking for feedback regarding the new chip reader requirments effective October 1

My understanding is that all new issued credit cards will have chips (sooner than later) and was wondering before I shell out another $500 for a wireless terminal what everyone else was doing for the short and long run . So far I have only had one credit card that I could not accept  so it has not been an issue. I assume most are using the square and was wondering how…

Disability Insurance for self-employed artist?

As I approach the ripe young age of 50 there are times I ask myself how long my body can take the grind and physical toll on my body from all the long drives, setups, breakdowns, standing on my feet for hours etc. that are part of the job description for art shows.

Recently I threw out my back (not from doing a show, but from all things, exercising!)  and although I am recovering quickly (hopefully in time for my next show next week) I am really starting to think what would happen if…
