"I don't disagree with the numbers, Len. What I'm saying is that we'll be rethinking what we create and then bring to the show if we are judged by the shows ultimately upon our sales at the shows."

"Barrie consider this:  high end booth is say 500 more than low cost commission booth.  Then let's say the commission is 30%.  Divide 500 by .3 and you get $1,666.  That mean the two options come out the same or break even at…"

"My prices were the same. Upping my prices might mean outing potential buyers. Just because it is a different model of "pay to play" doesn't mean you gouge people. I don't know how others might approach it."

Being with other creative individuals.
Best show ever and why
Park City Utah 2006, great enthusiasm for my work which was expressed in purchases and compliments!
Worst show ever and why
Breckenridge, CO (year?) Memorial Day weekend show, it rained, it snowed, it was miserably cold, there may have been 12 people who came to look at the show in a big parking lot. Had to load out with everything wet. Yet, there was one other photographer who praised my work and suggested I raise my prices! ;-)

Just Thinking Out Loud...What If?

Okay, I know this will never happen in any big way, so don't sweat it, and those of you who disagree with my rambling musings, it's just a thought, I was thinking.

Recently got back from the Fountain Hills Not So Great Fair and whilst I was standing around freezing and waiting for the occasional buyer to manifest I had a thought. Occasionally I have more than one but I did have this one...Booth fees are way out of control and my first experience with shows that charge a commission was…

And, Now the Review...Tempe Festival of the Arts Fall Addition

Posted on December 7, 2016 at 11:30am 13 Comments

I know that just about everyone, with some exception, has had a down year and, for some, Tempe was just a continuation of that trend. For me, thankfully, it was "okay". The bottom line is I didn't lose money but didn't make much either. I made about the same at the spring show. Read between the lines, this show is not making a lot of money for some artist/attendees.

The administration of this show has changed hands since spring. Kate Borders, President / Executive Director of Downtown…

Apple's Newest Entry...Nothing What-so-ever to do with art shows!

Posted on October 25, 2016 at 4:14pm 11 Comments

This has absolutely nothing to do with art shows directly but it might be helpful if you own an iPhone, or use iTunes or iPhoto to back up your phones contents!

I upgraded to Apple's newest entry into the iOS family with the system upgrade 10.0.2. I couldn't stand it when I upgraded to iOS 7 but I learned to live with it. A new low has been achieved with the iOS 10.0.2 and its need for redundant pressing of the home button just to get off the screen with the day and date, as-well-as…
