"Jim, my medium is photography. Yes, I've been doing it a long time although I only do 4 local art fairs per year. (Although I do at least a dozen or more exhibits each year.) I used to mat and frame my work, but no more. Too much work. I now…"

"Pretty much selling anything is knowing your demographic and it's very personal. The most beautiful mountain top vistas from award winning photographers probably aren't going to move that well if you're setting up in Key West."

"That's pretty much why my smallest size is 8x12 in 12x16 matte; anything else is a lot of work for diminishing returns, and it takes just as long to matte and bag the 12x16 as it would an 8x10 with the smaller size about $10-15 less. I am…"

"I've been going the cheap route and trimming up the drop outs from the 18x24 mattes. I print about 3/8 inch larger and the matte opening is around 3/16 inch larger so I can trim the drop out to 12x16. If I was inclined, the smaller drop out…"

"6x9 to 11x14, 8x12 to 16x20, 12x18 to 20x26, 20x30 to 28x38. The two smaller sizes fit standard frames. The three larger sizes all have generous 4" borders."

"You're using the same sizes I do, with an 18x24 and 24x30 matte. I also print 8x12 in a 12x16 matte. No one's complained about the extra margin on the large size."
