I, too, use Pro Panel hooks with my Light Dome and PP panels. I have 6 hooks, but would like to get more. The way I generally set up I could use 10 to cover every perimeter point not involved in a canopy corner.
"NO show I have EVER participated in for over 30 years now --W/S and Retail-- has EVER contracted out to a third party to arrange hotel contracts! Let's be clear... not that they have contracted out but didn't tell us; not that they…"
"I do this also, but this won't help for the immediate-case scenario. I would venture [without any objective proof] that I've done better with allowing a cell photo over a "look through my www", vis a vie an actual sale."
My work is mainly 2-D wall art and I also sell [very affordable] prints. I have signs in my booth which read, "Please ask before you photograph". I agree with Beth, if you want to share it with everyone, then BUY IT and hang it…"
"Hello David, et.al.,
Let me start with: I have no idea what I'm talking about, but...; I've never attended a show jury session --mock or otherwise-- and served on a jury only twice for a membership gallery I belonged to.
But this sounds…"
In response to Julia: I think the gist here is not so much whether an artist received low-end scores or high-end but rather that they received BOTH-end scores. This is not acceptable. This scoring schema communicates nothing…"
With any number score system --here we'll assume 1-7, 7 high-- the quality depicted by a 1 or a 7, or any other number, will slide per the show in question. Meaning: is this a local church show, populated mostly by church…"
I agree with Kerri... Shake head. Move on. It's hard though. This IS personal.
But remember, this is not like a class in school; teacher says, "Here's a bowl of fruit. Draw it. I want size, proportion, color, etc., all to…"
I agree with you: "add to the look and appeal. Plus it gives a 'take home and use' allure.". And as for people who want something else, it doesn't matter what you do -- you could have it in EXACTLY the…"
I am a photographer and I, too, do my own framing. Many folks would say you should have a cohesive "family" of frames for visual presentation sake. Buuuuut... if the frame for each of your pieces is intimately tied…"
"YES! I did this show only once, 2015 and drove from the DC area to do it! I grossed less than half of what my expenses were. The management screwed up every single aspect they could. The only thing right was the weather - it was beautiful - only…"
No... and Yes. No, no need of the smaller pieces... can't see them anyway, And yes, re-shoot it. With that said, I have this same issue... I want to show everything I have; after all, no one is going to walk it and ask,…"
Direct sales and customer feedback for product refinement
Best show ever and why
Two shows/Two reasons:
Fountain Hills, AZ, 2002; this was our Peak Show (with a different product) before the Bush Economy ruined the direct sales art business. Literally - and I do mean literally - nonstop sales the first day and very brisk sales the other two. Grossed double our show average.
Lazy Daze A+C Festival, 2015; I won Best of Show - Photography!
Worst show ever and why
... That's a pain you forget... but any show that flat out lies about product mix (buy/sell), placement (removed off in a hidden blind alley), or any other aspect under their control.
Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.
I really do not remember... probably a Google search for a specific show or a reference in an email...
What is one fun fact about yourself?
I don't have any formal education in Photography... or the Arts... I can't even draw a decent Stick-Dude!
