- In the late 1990s, I organized and directed several smaller shows. In 2000, the College of Medicine at Rockford hosted the first Art on the Lawn, a juried one-day show of fine arts and high end fine craft in various media. Now in our 12th year, the show is held on the grounds of Rockford College at 5050 East State Street in Rockford. I have directed the show since its inception. Always the second Sunday in June, the deadline to apply is usually mid-March.

- Why, Art on the Lawn 10th anniversary last year! Perfect weather, wonderful artists with a great mix of art and sales were very healthy.

- Rock Valley College arts and crafts fair...full of buy/sell, items in plastic marked "Made in China", even though the rules clearly forbid it. Didn't make a single sale, but the booth across from me selling $3 necklaces made a killing.

There's a person behind the Art on the Lawn name
Hi, my name is Barbara Berney. I'm a digital collage artist, jewelry designer and art show director, arts advocate, graphic artist, editor and writer. I'm also the president of the Rockford Art Guild. My work is represented regionally in Illinois and Wisconsin by five galleries, and I still exhibit regularly.
I manage two annual regional shows in Rockford, Illinois. Art on the Lawn at Rockford College is held the second Sunday in June. The Rockford Artists Fair, now in it's 40th year, sponsored by the Rockford Art Guild is held the third weekend in September in beautiful Beattie Park downtown along the river.
I'm always interested in hearing from artists about what they like to have in a show and what they think makes a great show. I take my role as the show director seriously, and my goal is to make my shows the best they can be, kinda like the Army.
