"Veronica- as a fellow jewelry artist, I'd like to share my show survival list with you. I print off copies and double check each needed item by marking through it as I load my vehicle for each show. It's not fun when you forget an item…"
"Thanks, Reid for this info. I too have stayed in air bnb's several times but did not know about their cancellation policy. Bad me didn't read that. Oops!
My experiences have been really good but I'll definitely Weigh my options before…"
"Yes, without a mailing list it's difficult but I advise getting a physical as well as email address for each customer. When someone purchases from me with a credit card, I ask them to write their name and address on a receipt book while I run…"
"Great job John! I haven't been doing shows very long but I too track every sale, customer info including tidbits they share about themselves, booth location, show attendance and its dynamics, weather, neighbor artists, etc. I hope I'm…"
"Thanks for the review. I've wondered about this show. It's only about a 5 hour drive for us and we have family in St. Louis to stay with. Have you done the fall Queeny Park show? If so, how is it compared to spring? I'm a jeweler and…"
"Colleen- You should investigate the TACA (TN Craft) shows held in Nashville which will also be in your "backyard". They hold 2 shows a year. The spring is the first weekend of May and is open only to TN artists and artists of neighboring…"
"As Richard said earlier- diversify! Make sure you have work in galleries/retail outlets, sell online and have some wholesale accounts along with selling at shows. This way you always have the potential of income even when there are no shows going…"
"I did this show as well but my sales were overall not as good as the spring TN Craft (TACA) show nor last fall's show. Friday I had crowds in my tent all day long and wonderful compliments but not many sales. Saturday I believe I had my highest…"
Did you permanently attach the velcro to the outer edges of your shelving and then the the other velcro side to your fabric or carpeting? I'm thinking I may try this look with my tall display tables before buying the dynamic display…"
"I didn't add in my original post that the 2013 spring TACA show with all the rain, low temps and mud was my first large outdoor show. Many friends couldn't believe I came back after that. So glad I did!"
"Good review, Margaret. I too did the TACA spring show last weekend. My sales were good all three days but the best on Sunday. The number of buyers were definitely there all weekend and most were very engaging- interested in my work and…"

of course it's wonderful to make sales which boosts our confidence but I love meeting new artists and sharing stories and learning from their experiences.
Best show ever and why
WinterArts, Germantown, TN
This is an indoor show which is a great bonus for the south and it is set up like an art gallery. Each artist has their own "booth space" but there are no dividing walls so you see across the area from artist to artist. The show runs from the Friday after Thanksgiving through Christmas eve. Each artist works only 5 four hour shifts during the run of the show (those from out of town can work a weekend for their time allotment).
Because of the length of the show, patrons come in time after time looking for gifts. It's a relaxed atmosphere and allows for quality time talking with the patrons.
Worst show ever and why
Art on the Sidewalk, Germantown, TN
This show is in June in the south and set up on concrete. Last year the temps were in the high 90's. Too hot!

What is one fun fact about yourself?
I'm an accountant by day and artist by night. People are always amazed at my use of both sides of my brain.
