Cloisonne Enamel Pendant, Tree of Life necklace- Home Is Where The Heart IsUsing the technique cloisonne enamel makes the house and tree portion of this pendant. It entails carefully bending pure silver ribbons of wire and fusing them to a pure silver surface with clear enamel. The following layers of enamel are colored and can take up to 20 times and firings in a kiln. After all the firings are complete the enamel house and tree gets sanded down so the wires are flush to the glass. The next step is the eye gets sanded to a high polish, which gives a gorgeous effect of depth and translucency to the glass enamel. After that it is bezel set in a carefully handcrafted sterling silver and 14 karat gold setting. The technique is quite labor intensive but the results are a magical beautiful piece of finely handcrafted jewelry.Being away from my family inspired Home Is Where The Heart Is. I was away from them for two weeks. I love my job and the many places I get to travel to but my heart is always back home when I am away.
