Hamsa Symbol PendantUsing the technique cloisonne enamel makes the hamsa symbol portion of this pendant. It entails carefully bending pure silver ribbons of wire and fusing them to a pure silver surface with clear enamel. The following layers of enamel are colored and can take up to 20 times and firings in a kiln. After all the firings are complete the enamel hamsa gets sanded down so the wires are flush to the glass. The next step is the om gets sanded to a high polish, which gives a gorgeous effect of depth and translucency to the glass enamel. After that it is bezel set in a carefully handcrafted sterling silver and 14 karat gold setting. The technique is quite labor intensive but the results are a magical beautiful piece of finely handcrafted jewelry. The pendant measures 1.75W x 1.25"L and comes with an oxidized sterling silver cable chain measuring that can be adjusted and worn up to 18".
