Cloisonne Enamel Pendant, Mountain Landscape NecklaceI am constantly inspired by my home in Colorado The colors and ruggedness of the mountains never bore me. I am lucky to live less then 2 hours from Utah's Canyon country where the source of inspiration comes from while creating this piece.Using the technique cloisonne enamel makes the mountain scene portion of this pendant. It entails carefully bending pure silver ribbons of wire and fusing them to a pure silver surface with clear enamel. The following layers of enamel are colored and can take up to 20 times and firings in a kiln. After all the firings are complete the enamel mountains get sanded down so the wires are flush to the glass. The next step is the desert-mountain scene gets sanded to a high polish, which gives a gorgeous effect of depth and translucency to the glass enamel. After that it is bezel set in a carefully handcrafted sterling silver setting. The technique is quite labor intensive but the results are a magical beautiful piece of finely handcrafted jewelry. The pendant measures 1"L x 3/4" W in diameter and comes with a sterling silver cable measuring 16" or 18". Please specify length with your order.
