What are the best things about art fairs

I enjoy expanding my patron base because it means meeting people who relate on some level to the work I create. I especially enjoy talking with another supporter of animal rights because, whether they buy art or not, we enjoy a connection that is deep and meaningful.

Best show ever and why

My favorite show experience so far has been one year at ArtBeat in South Bend, IN- a modest show for me, but it's in my backyard so I don't mind fewer sales. Still, it's always depressing when sales are BAD… but this particular year I sold a large oil to a couple who truly were right for it. It was an environmental message, and it resonated at exactly the right pitch for them. It was a wonderful connection and I knew my "baby" was headed to the perfect home!

Worst show ever and why

My worst fair experience was on of the many "Art in the Park"s, this one in Syracuse, IN. It was on a lake, and there was a pop up storm. The event organizers warned us it was quite bad but would not allow us to pack, even just until the storm passed. My booth's spot was horrid; each corner of the tent was sitting on a small peak and the center was a severe dip that had been tripping patrons and myself all day. It flooded, and I lost around 15 giclees. Luckily none of the originals were damaged.
