I hope you have some good plans for this weekend. I know if I was in Florida where I would be. But since I'm in southern Michigan I'm going to make the best use of it I can. I'll be in Columbus, OH, attending the Art Studio Clearance Sale at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, sponsored by the Ohio Designer Craftmen. Will any of you be there?

Any suggestions for a hotel/motel?

  • We're still waiting for snow here in Vermont. Here it is the end of January and there isn't 3 feet of snow on the lawn. There's no snow at all. It's 7 am and it's 35 degrees outside. Usually it's between 0 and minus 20.

I'm still curled up in front of the woodstove. But the flower and garden shows start in a few weeks so I guess next week I'll be back in the shop getting ready.

  • Wishing for a show, but no, not in January up here.  Instead we'll be clearing all the tree debris as a result of our Jan. ice storm and trying to figure out how much damage was done to all the landscaping and potentially to our cascading ponds that we have in our backyard. Ugg, it promises to be a muddy weekend, a show sounds like so much more fun.

  • I'm doing a small (30-artist) "boutique show" at Miromar Lakes, an uber-upscale development near my home.  It is only a three-hour show on Sunday afternoon, and of course I have a Trimline with all the trappings so the gruntwork-to-show ratio is out of sight.  But to get in front of this demographic, it should be worth it.

    • If the weather forecast is good why don't you just put up an EZ-Up, Geoff? We always had one just for these kinds of situations.

      • Thought of that.  But I use mesh panels for my Trimline and they won't fit an EZ-Up.
Since this is a one-off, not worth devising a solution.  Thanks, Connie!

        • Good luck Geoff, I can't wait to hear how this turns out for you! Sell tons $$$$$!
          • Thanks, Scott!  Actually turned out quite well for a 3-hour show.  I spoke to the show manager and suggested they make it a 5-hour show (noon to 5 instead of noon to 3).  She said she'd had some patrons (actually, residents in the community that hosted it) say that they would have liked more time to walk the show.  Wouldn't surprise me if they did that next year.  If they do, I'll definitely be back.

            • Good to hear !  and btw I did my first review inspired by you and nels a few typos but the meat is all that counts right!!!

  • Boca Museum booth 216. I agree with Geri, the art absolutely rocks at this show.
    • have a great show, Mr. Scott.
