For everyone that uses their phone/iPad for processing CC's at shows, we all dread the low battery message when it comes up. I picked up a portable USB charger( basically a rechargeable battery that charges your device) and I now longer have to worry about phone power at shows. It's small(4"x2"x1") and now I don't have to carry my computer to shows. It's been a real show saver!

I have two batteries for my smartphone. I use an external charger that plugs into the wall. When the phone's battery dies (I run 'em all the way down) I swap them out. For shows, I bring the fully charged 2nd battery along with the phone. Mostly I don't need the second battery, but it's nice to have just in case.
Cool. I'm using a small car jumper battery to run my iPad video display when the battery runs low. If needed I plug my phone into it when that gets low.
I use a Black and Decker power station, which has a cigarette lighter socket. It also has 110v output and I can use a small fan, if needed. It weighs about 25 pounds and is easy to carry. In a pinch, it can jump start your vehicle, too.
Mine also has a compressor. That thing will give me all the power I need for an outdoor show. I recharge it at night at the hotel, and I'm good for the following day.
Sometimes in winter the power will go out for a couple hours during a blizzard and it comes in handy then too.
Best $100 investment in years.
Recharging the phone? I just plug my phone into my truck while I'm en route to the show.
Here is the on I got off of Amazon. it says it will work with iPads but I haven't used it for that...

In researching this, I would buy it online from Newegg or Amazon. You have your choice of makes and models. I don't think you have to spend more that $30. I probably will buy the $12 version from Newegg. Remember, this would only be an emergency item. I've never run out of battery power at a show although I have gotten close. I only need the occasional boost in power.
I bought one at the phone store, I haven't had the need to use it yet but it seemed like a great idea.
I use marine batteries to run fans and lights. I just use a car charger for the phone to recharge it if it gets low. An alternative for the shows where the fans and lights aren't needed is a small 10 a/h sealed lead acid battery that I've added some outlets to and packed everything into a small compact camera bag. It has enough power to run a small fan and a 100W inverter for light loads.
I was looking at the Tekkeon MP1580 battery charger but it won't do an iPad, only the iPhone. It's a battery charger or it can use the fully charged batteries to charge your mobile device.
