Hi everyone! My name is Jeanie and I am new to AFI. I reside in Toronto, Canada and am a jewelry artist (oh no! Not another one!) I work with a blend of vintage/antique brass and new materials, and started my business in 1992. Several life events occured that cause me to have to put my passion/work on the backburner for a while (paretn passing away, becoming a mother, caring for elderly parent and then a terminally ill friend). WIth my daughter in full time school now, I'm excited to work on the business full time again, and go full steam ahead! Things have a change a little since I was making a living at my jewelry - the economy, more and more DIY bead and jewelry shops popping up, and a city full of retailers too afraid to part with money and want everything on consignment... not to mention many of the more lucrative venues in my area no longer exist. So...I'm starting fresh, so to speak. Any advice, wisdom and suggestions would be graciously appreciated. I'm ready to re-introduce myself into the art fair scene, and would like to travel and do shows in the U.S. Thank you in advance! Cheers, Jeanie

  • Welome, Jeanie. This is certainly a great place to start. I would also suggest going out to some shows and see what things look like now- better booth displays, pricing, general atmosphere. I viewed your attachments. Very interesting! I hope you find the right place to sell those beautiful, unique necklaces. As I have only been in the game for 5 years, I cannot say what has changed since you left, but wanted to wish you luck anyhow.
    • Thank you Amy - for your warm welcome and your input! Yes, I am planning on visiting the U.S. (to see friends) and look forward to checking out shows. I wish I had better photos of my booth displays, but I will post a couple.
