Here is a great article about some potters on Prince Edward Island who relied on tourism to support themselves (sort of like standing on a street corner in the US). Daughter comes along and thinks "how much longer can they do this?" (I've heard that one myself).

Daughter decides they need a wider audience for their pottery so she started a FB page, twitter account and a store on Etsy.

The result:

“Having an online presence [has] definitely opened us up to selling to any country, at any time of year,” Ms. Scott says. But “we’re now at the point that we’re really trying to keep up with the demand.”

Who would think that you could pottery online? Just think of the shipping costs?

Read the article. It is full of helpful steps.

In addition, they are looking for a potter or more to join their business.

Anyone else ready to do something like this?
