Here's my present booth shot. Am planning on adding some type of glass cases to front counter for next show. I know this booth is not nearly as professional as many other jewelers, but the fact is that we sell LOTS of less expensive jewelry and our customers love to get things down to try on, they enjoy the open shelving and the eye level shelves. How can I make my booth more professional? Any and all other suggestions are welcome.

  • The first thing that pops into my mind is its too cluttered.  As Barry said, the booth shot should have less stock to give a cleaner look.    Even though you only have five busts to a section (most of the time) the black risers add visual clutter.

In photoshop I would be blocking the empty spaces in the slats as the background that is coming through is distracting.

The wood table on the right looks grubby in the photo - either paint it white to co-ordinate it with your slat stands, or photoshop it cleaner.  I would probably have a few  small busts on the table itself, not just on the shelf as well, to block out the risers slightly.

  • Setting up your booth for a jury image is not the same as setting up the booth at a show. Jury shots need to be simple, clean and uncluttered. At a minimum, take out the shutters on each side and center the camera to shoot straight on the booth. There are several other small things that I would do but at least those two simple things will make a big difference.

    • Thanks Barry and Larry!

Barry, what other small things would you do. I need all the help I can get!
  • I was actually on the phone with Wendy right after she posted this so I went over the image with her.
