New jewelry-maker / metalsmith here, and my first show is coming up over Labor Day weekend. I am new to ALL of this. I have a tent already, proper size, walls and everything, but I have no real idea on how to set up a display, how many tables/shelves/whatever I will need, overall layout, display cases versus stands, and the best way to display jewelry and things of that size.

It seems like there are a lot of questions and answers on the discussion boards, but I was wondering if there is a "summary" somewhere on how to best get started that I can grab. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed....

Thanks,

Ken

  • ditto what Geri said, Ken. Get out of the studio and visit as many shows as you can between now and then. Take lots of notes -- what looks good to you, what looks bad, how attractive is the booth, how much work do they display. It is homework time.

  • You have the advantage of living in an art-show rich environment.  There are a ton of festivals not too far from where you live that you can go to and see what other jewelry artists are using for displays. Click on Art Fair Calendar at the top and find all that you have to choose from.  (some would say too many)

I don't think there is a summary ,  just a lot of info that yes, can be overwhelming.

    Good luck.
