We would be very interested in some feedback from both exibiting artists, and people who attended. This was the first time for this show after relocating to a downtown venue, and we wonder if there was a difference.

  • We walked the show last year, and actually spoke a woman who introduced herself as the juror for the show. She was extremely rude and snobbish about jewelry. Said that 'bead weavers' were just 'beads on a string'--I had on one of my pieces, and proceeded to point out the difference between the two-but she had her mind made up. I also asked about why there were no Precious Metal Clay artists there (that was also on my necklace). She said that PMC and Art Clay people were merely hobbyists. She also stated (with great profundity) that she owned a gallery and knew what was art. Oh well....by that time, I didn't have the inclination to speak to the promoter.

The artists (now keep in mind, this was last year), said that the show was not well attended, and, the people that were there, were not purchasing much, and, not big ticket items.

Maybe this year was better. The five friends that I spoke with, were not returning this year. Maybe next year there might be more buying energy.

  • I was wondering about this as well.  I was out of town and so didn't make it over there to walk the show.  I polled some of my friends who normally frequent fine art/craft shows and none of them went as they were in the throes of holiday shopping and didn't see this show as a venue for Christmas gifts plus the $8 door fee filters out the casual shopper.  The advertising was definitely there as I saw the TV ads when I was playing back some shows that I had recorded over the weekend... I do hope this was a winner for the artists...
