Thoughts about the new Witchita Show? Autumn and Art 2010

I will be doing this show, using my KC mail list of about 500+ to promote myself at this event. After reviewing the application, it appears that the promoters have selected a good site with the right demographics. Also, the dates of this show - between STLAF and Plaza work well for my schedule. I'm going to give the Atlanta show a rest this year (did it three years in a row) to try Wichita. I'm hoping to get into Plaza the following wkend.This show is offering good amenities to the artists, reasonable fees and they want this to be a show comparable to other high profile shows like STLAF, Plaza, Main St. Ft Worth and Des Moines. I take a chance on new shows, usually about once a year. I am also doing the new (2nd year) Renaissance show in Ridgeland, MS in May for the first time. I'm looking forward to the update to their website to see who else will be at Wichita.

I was excited when I say there was to be a new show in Wichita. The book and art fair has gotten away from art and artists first and foremost. So, when I checked out the show facts I was dismayed that even in this economy they have the balls to ask $475 for a space. My best suggestion is BOYCOTT.

I am in this show and also thought it was worth a try since it's only about 4 hour drive for me in Oklahoma. I'm getting my feet wet and trying to limit myself to OK, TX, CO, KS etc.
Ginny, I have seen your work and admire it. We both seem to be "linear" painters. :)
