Oh no, corporations are out there and they are buying art! Yes, Virginia, it is true.
"She said, 'I want that and that and that.’ And I just said, 'Yeah, right,' and went and sat down, because I didn't think she was serious. Then she goes, 'Who do I make this check out to?'" said Jef Raasch as he went to sit down.
But she was. Epic System's (a 35 year old software company based in Wisconsin) CEO Judy Faulkner leads her team of employee/buyers through the Art Fair on the Square in Madison, WI, regularly.

According to accounts from a dozen artists at the 2014 Art Fair on the Square, Epic takes a team of employees out during the art fair to tour hundreds of booths with a generous budget (some of which is in cash) with an eye for acquiring fun and unusual pieces.
"I saw a group of young, hip-looking people and they were kind of talking about (the art), talking about their budget," said Sarah Bean, a Virginia-based artist who carves classic books like "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "The Catcher in the Rye" into beautiful wall-mounted assemblages.

Imagine, to my surprise, that the day after I wrote the info above I'm standing on Washington St. in Ann Arbor and I see a woman who looks so familiar. Who could it be and where have I seen images of this work and the woman who is sitting in the chair? Lo and behold, I was face to face with THE Sarah Bean and her amazing mixed media books.
