Just saying hello!

I discovered this site earlier today. I am already impressed with the wealth of information and sharing that goes on here.

I am new to the art fair scene. I have attended and volunteered at art fairs for some years. I am finally getting my own work out and available. My medium is photography, and my work centers around lighthouses, barns, flowers, sunsets and a few other pieces of Americana.

Last year I was in one craft show. It was an indoor show, which was poorly advertised, and therefore poorly attended. But, I did well, and learned a lot.

This year I am in one outdoor show (Art in the Village in Milford, Michigan), and several indoor shows in the fall. I will be adding more as the next few weeks unfold.

  • Hi there Bob,
I just wanted to say hello and welcome to the site. It is definitely a great idea-sharing site and there is so much to learn from so many art veterans here. I'm glad to hear you've found it helpful as well. There is always more to learn. If you have any questions at all feel free to start your own discussion and ask away.

Congrats on your first art show and I hope the next one has a better turn out. Try to visit other fairs prior to applying and that should give you a good idea of what ones you would like to apply for. Enjoy it all and congrats on your photography as well.

    Welcome and take care!

  • Thanks, Chris.

The photos of your area are beautiful. While my first love in photography is lighthouses, barns - especially the rustic-bordering-on-collapse variety, are a close second. And Fall colors are a hit with many.

Don't know who took those pics, but whomever it is has a great eye.
  • Welcome from Vermont, Bob!

Although I am not a photographer, I envy those who can capture something and show the beauty to others.

Here's a website of our local area with some photos of Vermont during the year. Naturally, autumn is our favorite season, with a tie between winter and summer. No lighthouses, but plenty of barns and rural areas though.

    Hope you like the photos.
