Hello! I am a painter with price ranging from 600-2500$ (most over 1000$), very colourful, somewhat abstract. Am trying to decide whether to go to Covington or Telfair. I have heard good things about Covington but not from anyone in my media. Telfair seems more my market, however I haven't heard much about it. Any advice which to accept? I am coming from north and don't know the southern market at all. Thanks for your help!

  • How did State Street Ann Arbor go for you? You've got some interesting artworks, especially in the animals portfolio. I'll be back tomorrow to comment further. WOOHOO!

    • It went well, thank you! I think I will be doing most of my business in the after fair which is just fine for me. I also appreciate the feedback on my work. With the colour, look and price point of my paintings, I am trying to scout where my market is. Am heading west in the fall to check things out. In regards to the two above, I have been chatting with a few people and am leaning towards Telfair. Any thoughts?

      • Yes, that's probably where I'd go if I were you. I've never done either show, but I was scheduled to do Telfair a few years ago and decided to cancel since some of their policies were a bit goofy. They've since fixed those issues, and I see they've lowered their booth fee some as well. Telfair is still one of the higher priced shows for that area, but it's an interesting one in that it has a smaller number of artists, it's three days, and they have some fantastic award money.

I usually finish my fall show tour in Pensacola with Great Gulf Coast Art Festival, and some of my fellow exhibitors move on to Covington, which is a pretty close distance, and a few others go to Savannah for Telfair.

You might want to investigate the Florida market for November and other times. There are some really good shows there with really high dollar awards. I've been exhibiting there for years, but have to quit now due to health reasons. We're going to keep touring, but less and in a different area. We love touring. WOOHOO!

        • Thanks so much for the info! I have been hearing really good things about Florida and will try for it. Right now I am up to about 7 shows for the fall, so I am going to hopefully need to come home after that to make some more paintings, because they will be all sold out! hehehe. Touring is pretty fantastic :)
