Was curious.  I have been purchasing my tent and supplies to polish up my jury tent photos and set up..

I have seen folks submitting images with their tents already set up at a event it seems..

I was curious if i could just set my booth up in my yard or driveway and not get dinged?

Any thoughts.. or guidance..  chris

  • That's the best way to do it. No distractions, all the time you need to get it just right. Crop your photo so it doesn't include a cluttered garage or side of neighbor's home. Many juries prefer booth shots to be anonymous, so make sure you have some pics without your name or other personal info in the image. And of course, no people or pets in the booth.

  • What can it hurt?  Won't cost you anything but time, right?

  • I think that's the only way it should be done. Go for it.

  • I took my very first booth photo in my driveway and it worked fine. I don't think it was possible to tell, as I cropped the photo so that only the booth was visible. I don't think the shows care as long as it's an accurate representation of how your booth will be set up at a show.

  • I have always taken my best booth photos in my back yard. It is better to be able to set up the booth facing the most favorable direction and having the time to wait for the best lighting and lack of glare from the days changing sunlight and weather conditions. I don't set up under trees that cause shadow problems. Your best photos come from a controlled environment. Juries are not really concerned of photo location but are concerned as to an overall representation.

My booth has remained set up and fully displayed for several days at a time to achieve my best shot. It also gives me the ability to arrange it differently for photo purposes as compared to how it actually looks at a show with identification signage etc. At shows we set up our displays for the best viewing and sales by those who come into our booth.

Being set up at your home means never having any distractions or having other booths set up next to you that might possibly block light from the side that could be beneficial to your photos.
