What are the best things about art fairs

Meeting people and talking about art

Best show ever and why

I've really only done three, and the first two don't really count (my home town) But really, the only real Art Fair I've participated in was Melbourne FL April 2011. I sold one piece for $1600, which I gathered from talking to other exhibitors, was pretty good for this show. Apparently, "high end" (which I did not earlier realize includes prices this low) was not selling well. I sure wish I'd had something to sell for a few hundred dollars or so, but that's probably not going to happen for me. Anyway, this was the best and the worst show for me. I most enjoyed all the positive comments about my work - and I had several people who were "transfixed" by a couple of my pieces. I've never experienced that at gallery openings. But in the end, I heard "if I had not been out of work for the past year" etc. probably a hundred times. I even had one girl to offer her car in trade for a piece! Never been there before.

Worst show ever and why

Bluffton SC Seafood and Arts Fair October 2009 - it really isn't an art fair in my opinion. Lots of good seafood, Some crafts people, and a couple of very good photographers sold well in the $25-150 range But of the dozen or so folks that I would consider accomplished painters, sculptors, etc., I dont think anybody sold at all. I could be a little wrong. I had fun talking to my neighbors, though.
