What are the best things about art fairs
the people running it, the visitors... even the ones who promise to return and don't. And especially meeting the other artists too who are so loaded with all kinds of helpful information.
Best show ever and why
The Tree Planting Festival in Oakridge, Oregon.... They have multi-millionaires who live there and they collect art... and if it's not priced correctly, they tell you why and help you out by purchasing your art... and inviting you back if your attitude is a good one on the first impression.
Worst show ever and why
The Taste of Vancouver, Vancouver, Washington. What a flop and an expense trap. Never again. The artist vendors were stuck out in the back forty and can you believe this... right next to all that greasy food... the fumes penetrated everything: clothes, art, tents, etc.... Most of the artist's complained, it was a grumpy year... and none of my art sold, however, the artist in the next booth thought she was doing me a favor when she sold some of the exotic plants I borrowed from a nursery.... that show, I spent over $1500 just to get there and show, then I spent over $2000 to replace exotic plants that come from south of the equator.
