I'm getting ready to do my first show of the 2011 season and just wondered if any other oil painters could tell me how their print sales have been this year.

I'm thinking of getting 5 x 7 prints that I'll double mat to fit an 8 x 10 frame (I'm not planning to frame them, just put in clear bags.)

I've never done this small size before, but am thinking I need to offer some lower priced items to help cover my expenses.

Any feedback on your best selling size and price point would be greatly appreciated!

  • My smaller repros definitely sell better than my large ones. I print them where I work- QEPDesign. They are giclees on canvas. Because I get them at cost, I can charge low prices. My best selling size is around 11" x 14" or $15 -$20. But bear in mind that I am in a primarily agriculture based region which is not exceptionally fertile ground for the artist.

    I hope this helps!
