I've had my site up for seven months.  I've tweaked it many times and am just now happy with it enough to see what others think.  I also got a Facebook page for the site and just added the link.  I'm not a Facebook fan, but my co-workers thought it would be good to have.  I use wix for hosting and starting template.

My biggest concern at the moment is the loading time for the home screen.  I'm curious if it takes too long to load and people move on before it fully loads.  It has a couple of my pics that scroll, but they have to load first.  It's a nice way to show the art, but it may just take too long.  Other than that, just click around make sure everything works, tell me what ya think.

Thanks,

Matt

  • The first loading of your site took awhile but I'm not sure if it wasn't on my end. I bought a new computer a while back with Windows 7 and I have issues plus I have Hughes Net which is slow. The next pages came up pretty fast which is why I said that. I like your site. It fits the aviation art.
  • Beautiful images...I didn't have any problems with speed or size on my p.c.  Not an expert, by any means, but it looks very professional to me.

  • Very nice looking site.. Great work!

In regards to the time it takes for the page to load - does wix allow you to optimize the images? or maybe you can do that with photoshop? Smaller image files will allow it to load faster.

Having a slide show on the front page can work. Maybe make it a bit smaller, and place it to one side. A two column format with contact info etc. on one side, and the slide show on the other.

    • Thank you.

I did optimize the images in Photoshop, but I could probably take it further.  I will play with the front page more to maximize the space.

  • Matt,

Everything loaded very quickly on our PC, but we have a lot of bandwidth.  The entire screen appeared without having to scroll.  I did not try it on a mobile device however.  Was it difficult to set up in Wix?  We are going to make a change soon.

    • Thanks for checking it out.

I truly enjoy Wix.  I played with some web stuff back in the the late 90's but nothing since then.  So this is my only experience lately.  I found it very easy to use.  No problems moving stuff around or changing images.  It's great that you can start with a template and just plug your info in.  I do need to teach myself some things again if I haven't looked at it in a while, but that's it.  I think it's similar to others price wise too.  I wish it had more purchasing options, it only takes paypal at the moment, and I don't get a notification if something has sold (not a problem unfortunately).  I have to go back and check on the site regularly to see if there are any orders.  I think I work with paypal and fix this but I haven't done anything yet.

  • loaded quickly on my iphone- handsome page
    • Thanks glad to hear it worked well on smart phone.

  • Why do you have a slide show running on the home page? A single image would serve the same purpose. I'll bet some people won't go any further because they're being entertained. And I don't like the fact that the image (slide show) is cut in half and I have to scroll to see it entirely. I'd make the logo smaller or put it in the upper left corner and have the image small enough to be seen without having to scroll. And the image should be a link to the gallery of images, not to itself.

Check your code to see if all the pictures in the slide show have to load before the show starts, or just get rid of the slide show.

    • Appreciate the feedback.  What size monitor do you use or do you know the pixel resolution you have it set to and I will look and see what size I have the web page showing.  I have viewed on 27" and 19" (I need to check the resolution myself).  I'll see about moving or resizing the logo so the central image comes through better.  Also nice catch on the images not linking to their purchase page.  I'll need to fix that.
