Trimline canopy for 1-day shows?

Hi, I am new to this forum and just introduced myself in the "welcome to..." forum. I have been selling my apparel and accessories at 2 markets in the Seattle area the last few months and I am now seriously considering investing in a Trimline canopy. The markets I sell at are usually 1 day markets. Same day setup and tear down. Would a Trimline (or similar canopy) be too much of a hassle for such one day shows? Is it an overkill for these type of shows? Kindly advice. Thanks, Satya

  • Over the years we had a collection of different tents - a 10 x 15 that we used when we were doing a show with a double booth, a couple of very heavy duty Imperials by KD (95 lbs apiece) that we used at most shows, when we were doing longer shows, at least two days, but if the weather looked good for the day at a one day show we would pull out our light weight KD and be set up within an hour. We always used weights regardless of the forecast. The weather forecast usually determined which tent we'd use.

In August I attended a small farmers market in Los Angeles and everyone had EZ ups. The weather was benign and they were appropriate for the venue. Still ,I saw no weights which concerned me. From my experience I'd be nervous without weights, but all seemed to be well.

  • Get the Trimline and keep the pop-up.  Use the pop-up when the weather is good. Use the Trimline when it isn't or when there is plenty of time to set up.

    • Ok thanks Randy.

I am curious though if anyone is using a Trimline regularly for 1-day shows?

      Thanks,

      • There are very few one day art shows. But if we do one, we use the canopy we have. Most artists they only have one canopy.

The Trimline is the Cadillac of art show canopies, and it will probably add at least an hour to your set up and break down time.

Not trying to talk you out of it, but you might look into why your current canopy isn't working right. There are artists who have used EZUp type canopies for years and have never lost work to the weather.

  • What are you currently using?

    • Hi Larry - I currently use a Caravan pop-up canopy. Slightly heavier duty model in the Caravan line.

While it works fine for now when the weather is good. Only one time in the last few months of selling it rained slightly and water was dripping from sides, some inside etc. making me dance to protect my merchandise. And that is what got me thinking of a solid water proof canopy.

      Thanks,

      Satya
