Recently got a great deal of a used set of KD pro panels (light gray) and was wondering the best way to keep them clean when hauling them around to shows. Should I make boxes for them? What works?

What kind of vehicle so you have? When I had a cube van (truck) I used to stand them up inside the back door. When I drove a van I laid them down and slid them under the platform. After over ten years, they are dark gray and still look new.
Don't worry about it too much. If you brush them with a stiff brush occasionally they should be fine. Try to keep them out of the dirt: stack them vertically on the legs when setting up and tearing down instead of laying them flat. ProPanels says you can wash the carpet -- in seven years, I've never had to. You can spot clean if there is a horrible mark on them, using carpet cleaner and water. But it's probably going to make the spot look cleaner than the rest of it.
That said, the light gray, moonbeam and oatmeal show dirt the most. If you are really concerned, wrap them in a tarp when storing them. But personally I've never worried too much about them.
