setting up a trimline solo

Hello everyone,
I just bought a used trimline canopy (yay!). Does anyone  have any tips for setting it up by yourself? Once it stops raining, I am going to practice setting it up in my backyard, but I was hoping someone had some suggestions. I don't want to count on someone at the show being able to help me.

  • that is what i did - each section is bundles separate and labeled. that is what i was having problems with - keeping all the parts straight.

Congratulations on the purchase of a nice, sturdy tent. I have a trimline also. To alleviate the panic that I feel when setting up (especially under deadline) I use colored bungies to bundle the steel poles. For the roof poles I use red bungies; legs are purple; sta-bars are orange...et cetera. This tactic keeps my head clear for other set up details as I reach for the proper color during each stage of the assembly. Not sure how your mind works but I thought this might be helpful to you.

  • I have actually practiced setting it up and labeled the pieces and left what i could together. It's not bad setting it up. I am recruiting my sister to help. It does make me feel nore secure having a tent that won't blow over for a 4 day show i have coming up.

    Hi,
I would recommend NOT removing all the pieces when you tear down.
I leave the corner pieces attached. This will give you a starting point for set up.
All those pieces can be confusing at first. I also labeled things to help me remember.
I love my Trimline now, however I was in tears the first couple times I set it up.
I'm sure you will be happy to have a Trimline!

  • Is setting up a Trimline that different from setting up a Showoff? Why do 2 legs have to be extended at the same time? I thought they were pretty similar in design, and I have no problem doing my Showoff alone. Sometimes I prop up one end on the tall stepstool while I put the legs in. But that's only when I'm feeling especially lazy.

Now a Lightdome, that looks like such a pain, if you don't have at least 4 hands: wobbling rafter parts and legs all over the place.
  • thanks - as soon as the rain stops I am going to try to set it up.

The video Larry mentions is a decent start. There are a few tips/tricks I can share (I set mine up all the time by myself), but it would be better if I offered to help you with them AFTER you've set it up in your backyard once. If I can help, send me a friend request on the site, and after I've accepted it you'll be able to email me if with any questions you have. I'll be glad to help.

    You've made a great investment!

  • The easy riser kit is a great one person tool for the trimline. Makes setup/breakdown very easy.

  • Thanks - that's how i figured i would do it, and that helps a lot. The man who sold me the tent, kept making comments about me being a girl and not be able to do it alone. I let the comments slide because I was getting a really good deal.

I Googled "Trimline canopy instructions" and came up with the PDF instructions from the Flourish web site. Not sure if you've seen this already:
