I'm just getting started in showing my photography at art shows, and I'm wondering how people typically transport large flat pieces of art in their cars. I imagine there are some sort of racks that you can buy, but I've never seen them. Any advice would be appreciated.

Depending on the amount of space in your vehicle, think vertical, not horizontal. It takes up much less room and doesn't require taking everything out to set up. Then it depends on what you mean by large. You can use empty mat board boxes which are about 32x40x1-1/2 inches. If you use Nielsen #11 or similar style, you can put two large framed pieces back to back in one box. If you're selling canvas, they need to be protected by large pieces of felt or bags made from felt so the box doesn't become abrasive and rub the finish off the print. Anything custom needs to be designed and built either by you or hire a carpenter.
Everything to do with art shows requires taking up as little space as possible. From the interior of your vehicle to the interior of your booth. Spending a little more money on design and build will save space and end up enabling you to make more money.

Thank you Larry. That's a big help. I don't use mat boards with my media, so I don't have any. I assume that I can I just get them at a art supply store?
