Question on a 15' (or 20') Trimline

Some friends and I put up my new (to me) 15 ' Trimline yesterday.  One thing I found is that it is impossible for me to lift myself using the EZ riser kit.  Although I will need less help than I did for putting on the Craft Hut roof.  Any tips for someone working alone to lift the 15'?

  • Hi Alison, I had a love/hate relationship with my 20' Trimline. Loved the sturdiness of it, hate that it was so heavy. My husband had a complete shoulder replacement this past March so we ended up hiring someone at the first few shows this year to meet us there and help us set up. It was mostly in hoisting it up that we needed the help. We had the easy risers (homemade, not the kit) but still needed extra hands.

If you are showing alone, just get the top all ready, frame and canvas in place and then ask for help to raise it. As you do it more, you will become quicker at it. Raising it, putting in the risers, then the legs and then doing the same on the other side will only take you a couple of minutes.

I sold my Trimline a couple of weeks ago, my fairs are over for the year or perhaps longer. We're getting ready to go full-time in the RV and I'm taking a break from the shows. If I start doing shows again I plan to buy the heaviest EZ up I can, and watch the weather closely. :) In the meantime, I hope to paint interesting places around the country and sell my small paintings to unsuspecting tourists! I used to sit on the docks in Tarpon Springs and paint the shrimp boats and sponge divers. They would sell before they were even dry, so I guess I'm going back to my roots!

Good luck with your Trimline, it's a great tent!
