I seem to be doing fine getting into shows, however I'm always open to improve my booth. Since taking the top photo I have painted all dark hangers white, added some greenery and created a "back door" framed with material.

I took a shot at my last show but I wasn't on flat ground and photo didn't turn out well -- probably won't do the material or will figure out better way to handle since many shows I'm not on flat ground. I'll add pic just to give you an idea of where I'm heading.

My biggest challenge is that none of my pieces "blend", no way to color coordinate. Plus I have more & more hanging pieces -- I'm thinking about getting something like a pro-panel to go across the back for hanging pieces? I do NOT like the way I'm hanging them now.

Anyway, would love some suggestions.

  • I'm on my ipad so my review won't be as detailed as on a regular computer.

For jurying. Your display needs a more uniform way to display your work. There are two matching shelf units but the third shelf unit is different as are the way things are hanging. Having such an eclectic way of displaying leaves a lot to be desired. It seems like the pieces are getting lost in the display. It's not letting the jurors focus on the work.

The doorway is a distraction. It breaks up the flow of your booth and forces the eye to look through the doorway. Especially since you have it outlied with darker fabric. The way the hanging pieces are positioned looks scattered also.

What I'd like to see is a darker (maybe brown) display and walls, set up in a way that features the pieces instead of just filling up shelves.

    • Thank you -- your comments are very much appreciated. Just curious, do you like the following better? I changed to the off-white because I was told that the dark color distracted from my art, that the shelves needed to blend into the walls. I can't change the shelving at this point so trying to work with what I have. I'll ditch the doorway, was looking for an unobtrusive way to get to my back work station, but thinking if I add a pro-panel or similar that I can easily disguise an opening.

      • It may be the high contrast of the ipad screen but the white walls are too bright blowing out detail. If you're setting up for a jury shot, forget about a work station. Center the back unit between the side units which might be angled towards the camera. Also everything needs to be squared up so it doesn't look leaning.
