Hi all-

I have applied to art shows in the photography category for a number of events through ZAPP and other online entry app sites, but am applying to a number of shows that are requesting photos on CD--a couple even via email. I am not sure what size images to include for these show apps or what resolution. Any general rules since I am not sure if these images will be projected or viewed on a computer for judging.

  • I always submit my ZAPP images also if not specified. But going with horizontal non square could give you an advantage in the right situations. Just like if asked to submit prints, slides or digital images without specified sizes, I recommend sending 8x10 prints.

  • If no one specifies I use the same images I've sized for Zapp.  Makes my life easier and so far I've gotten into most of those shows

    • I've done that as well.  If they don't give image specifications they get my ZAPP files.

      • Thanks Allison. Looks like Zapp it is.

  • They need to tell you what size is optimum to submit if they are using their own system. If they don't tell you, I would recommend something around 1400 pixels long dimension and to submit horizontal images. In a non square world, horizontals are larger than verticals.
